Yoo Jae Suk reveals that he fell while filming “Running Man” and ended up in the emergency room

On January 1, a video titled “The bow is just an excuse” was uploaded to the YouTube channel DdeunDdeun. The episode of Pinggyego featured actors Ahn Eun Jin, Lee Sang Yi and Kim Sung Cheol, classmates from Korea National University of Arts’ famous Class of 2010, appearing as guests and sharing stories from their college days.

During the conversation, Lee Sang Yi recalled a serious accident that happened last year in which he collapsed while filming a drama, injured his face, and eventually had to undergo plastic surgery. Hearing this, Yoo Jae Suk chimed in with his own experience, saying: “I also fell once while filming Running Man. I didn’t even need to get that far, but I got carried away, got overexcited and ended up falling from there.

The production team added context through on-screen captions, explaining that the incident occurred during a game when Yoo Jae Suk felt excited by a BTS song, started dancing enthusiastically, and slipped and fell from the gaming apparatus.

Yoo Jae Suk went on to describe the unfortunate details of the fall. “My luck was really bad” he said. “As I fell, my knee hit my glasses. The frame split the skin above my eyebrow and it ripped open. Blood started pouring out.” He added that he initially went to the emergency room but was told that stitching the wound could leave a noticeable scar. “So I went back to Seoul and went to a plastic surgery clinic to get stitches,” he explained.

Lee Sang Yi asked if Yoo Jae Suk had hurt his eyebrow, to which he clarified that the cut was just above it. Lee Sang Yi then shared an unexpected side effect of his own injury, saying that after damaging his eyebrow, under-eye area and philtrum, the hair no longer grows properly in the eyebrow due to the scar. Yoo Jae Suk and Ahn Eun Jin reacted surprised, saying to them everything seemed to be going well.

Lee Sang Yi laughed it off, explaining that he had filled it out that day. At this time, Kim Sung Cheol asked jokingly because Lee Sang Yi’s eyes looked so relievedcausing laughter on set. Lee Sang Yi jokingly scolded him for missing the point, while Ahn Eun Jin warmly wrapped things up by reassuring him that he still looked good.

The lighthearted exchange gave viewers a rare glimpse into the real-life inconveniences behind variety and drama productions.
