The mass outrage among K-pop fans over idol deepfakes has caught the attention of YG Entertainment, which has released its position on the issue.
On September 2, YG Entertainment released an official statement regarding online deepfakes of its artists. The agency stated that it was aware of the inappropriate AI-generated content of YG artists and would take action.
YG shared that the company is constantly monitoring any malicious activity online to remove or block such content. It added that legal action will also be taken for these illegal posts. Read the agency’s full statement below:
“Hello. I’m YG Entertainment.
We are seriously concerned about the situation where inappropriate deepfake content (artificial intelligence-based synthetic videos) involving our artists is being created and spread.
We constantly monitor widespread and harmful illegal activities to remove or block infringing content and look forward to taking all possible legal action, including criminal prosecution.
We will continue to vigorously pursue any illegal behavior that seriously harms the dignity and reputation of our artists.
Thank you.”
