Writer Kang Deeply Reflects on ‘Light Shop’, Teases ‘Moving 2’

On Christmas Eve, Kang Full, the writer of Disney+’s “Light Shop,” talked about his latest series in an interview in Seoul. As a symbolic gesture, he gave away some light bulbs, demonstrating his deep attachment to the project. Kang described the series as “genre challenging” with a unique narrative approach. “The real story starts in the fifth episode, and I was worried that viewers wouldn’t stick around until then,“he admitted. “But it was a story I really wanted to tell and I’m relieved by the positive response.”

The series is notable for its combination of horror and romance, differentiating it from Kang Full’s previous work, “Moving.” He acknowledged the challenges of adapting horror for TV, but expressed gratitude to Disney for supporting the project. “Horror is naturally better suited to films, but their trust made it possible,” he said.

He also praised director Kim Hee Won, who he personally approached for the role. “This is a story about people and I needed someone who could guide the actors effectively,” Full Kang shared. “His dedication has been incredible and the praise for his direction is well deserved.”

Kang Full expressed high regard for the cast, especially Seol Hyun, whose performance exceeded his expectations. “She was recommended to me by the director and, even though I initially had doubts, her acting amazed me. She’s truly extraordinary.” He also highlighted the contributions of Park Jung Min and Go Yoon Jung, who made special appearances, “They put so much value on the story.”

Looking ahead, Kang Full hinted at his plans for Moving 2, “Even though nothing is concrete yet, I’m already imagining the story. I hope to create something completely unexpected for viewers.”
