Lee Chaeyeon’s label has announced legal action against cyberbullies who target her.
IZ*ONE member agency underlined the seriousness of the situation in an official statement.
“This is a serious criminal act that undermines the reputation and character of the artist,” the agency said.
“We will continue to monitor and respond robustly to slander, defamation, personal attacks, the indiscriminate dissemination of false information and widespread reproduction.”
“We will take strong legal action without leniency for all subsequent illegal activities,” they added.
Lee came under attack after she joined calls for former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol to be impeached after he enacted martial law.
“I’m in no position to talk about politics? So what position qualifies me?” he asked, speaking to fans.
“As a citizen I will decide for myself. I will say what I want, when I want. I am a public figure and that is why I should speak. But thank you for your concerns. Let us work for a better world – a world where we can truly exchange love.”
