WINNER’s Mino is under investigation for allegedly violating South Korea’s military service law after being discharged from service.

“We made this request because there are matters that need to be confirmed by the police station,” an official from the Military Manpower Administration told TenAsia on the 26th.

According to a Military Manpower Administration official, if the allegations of poor performance against Song Mino prove true, his discharge from military service will be canceled and he will have to reenlist and continue to serve for the period in question.

Song Mino had previously been embroiled in allegations that he had not served properly after transferring to the Mapo community service facility in March.

The idol also allegedly signed attendance records on a single day and collaborated with a designated employee.

“It is difficult to confirm details regarding the artist’s service,” Mino’s label, YG Entertainment, said in a statement.

The agency said Mino’s absences were part of sick leave “an extension of the treatment he was receiving before duty, and all other vacation days were used according to policy.”

Seoul Mayor Oh Se Hoon launched an investigation into the attendance records of all social workers as the controversy grew.

“We will take strict measures based on the results of the investigation and, if necessary, suggest to the Military Personnel Administration to improve the system for fair military service obligations,” Oh said.
