When the topic is K-pop groups with horror themes and elements, it’s impossible not to think of the OG “Concept Kings” — VIXX!
After 12 years, what happened to the members?
In 2012, Jellyfish Entertainment launched its first boy group called VIXX, a sextet formed through the reality show “MyDOL”.
Upon debut, they stood out for their visual, singing and dancing skills, but most importantly they consolidated their name for their unique storytelling concepts that touched on elements of horror, suspense and thriller.
In 2013, they usurped the moniker with “On & On,” which features the classic vampire vibe.
Shortly after, the team dropped “Hyde,” which is their sinister version of “Hyde and Jekyll.”
In the same year, their success continued with the hit “Voodoo Doll”, which currently remains a terrifying theme that no other artist can surpass.
Unfortunately, VIXX, who reached their peak, took a break in 2019 to test their solo journeys.
Along the way, some members met their doom, leading the team to regroup as a four-member group.
Here is the status of the six original members:
LION
In March 2024, Leo, the lead singer of VIXX, left Jellyfish to sign with Big Boss Entertainment as an actor.
However, he clarified that he is still a member of the group.
KEN
The member also left Jellyfish together with Leo in March and is currently an artist for S27M Entertainment.
He’s still in the VIXX.
No
Although the idol-turned-actor left the label in 2020, he told Starlights (fandom) that he will still work as VIXX.
He is currently focused on his acting career under 51k.
HYUK
The sextet maknae also split from Jellyfish in 2022 but is still a member of VIXX. He is now an artist with the Companion Company, but is currently inactive due to military service.
He will be discharged in January 2026.

In 2020, Hongbin announced his retirement from VIXX and retirement from the Korean entertainment scene. This came after his controversial remarks about other idol groups during a drinking session on a live stream.
He is currently a full-time Twitch broadcaster.
RAVI
In 2019, Ravi left his label to start his own label GROOVL1N. He remained a member of VIXX until his departure in 2023 after being caught faking his health condition to evade active military duties.
He received a 2-year suspended prison sentence and 120 hours of community service for violating the Military Service Act. He also volunteered to enlist twice.
