Viral tweet 8.5 m-view on the confusion of Lia of Itzy: does it really come from one of the richest families in Korea?

A post that recently became viral on X (previously Twitter), obtaining over 8.5 million views, has aroused confusion and frustration among the fans after he said that the Lia of Itzy (real name Choi Jisu) comes from one of the richest families of Korea – only for the story that will later be debut as a fanfiction.

The tweet painted a picturesque narrative of Lia’s life, describing it as “A gentle and simple 19 year old girl” who grew up in privilege, they studied abroad in Canada and spoke fluent English. He said that his father urged her to pursue professionally music after recognizing her talent, leading her to spend auditions to JYP, SM, YG and HYBE – before choosing the Jyp Entertainment. The post also referred to its early popularity, to the status of brand ambassador with Dolce & Gabbana and hot relations with its ITzy members.

However, the tweet was lacking in factual quotes or declarations of non -responsibility, which led many to believe that the story was an official biography or an insider report. As he earned traction, the confusion spread, with users who question the validity of the statements and underline inconsistencies.

When the recourse was mounted, the original poster clarified, “I was inspired by writing this fanfic because he only radiated such a rich girl atmosphere … but most of the things are true even if as Lol.”

This casual admission has only intensified the recourse:

The controversy has rekindled the conversations on fans and creators of liability content during the publication of real celebrities, in particular in the absence of declarations of non -responsibility. Also well intentioned tributes or fans inspired by the character can enrich the public and create false narratives, in particular in an era in which the viral content spread faster than the corrections.

While the post could have started as a creative tribute to the graceful image of Lia, in the end it served as a precautionary history on the blurred line between admiration and disinformation in the culture of the Fandom K-pop.
