Actors Cha Seung Won AND Yoo Hae Jin (also known as Yoo Hai Jin) are the OG hosts of tvNthe beloved reality series, Three meals a dayTheir unbreakable friendship has attracted countless viewers to the series over the past decade.
But in the last episode of Three meals a day: lighta special season celebrating the show’s 10th anniversary, Cha and Yoo ended up arguing over a pot of gochujang stew.
Cha started cooking like crazy, throwing together all the ingredients he thought were worthy of being in the stew. When Cha stepped away from the heat to pick up more chili peppers, however, Yoo added some super-fermented Kimchi to the stew.
Cha returned, he noticed the Kimchi pieces in the stew, and immediately asked who was calling him. Tasting the stew, now strongly flavored by the Kimchi and not at all like the gochujang the stew Cha had in mind—Cha expressed disappointment…
…and even threw the ladle to say that it is “finished cooking.”
Cha Seung Won: …Did you put kimchi here? Why?
Yoo Hae Jin: Just a little… Is it bad?
HI: Ugh… Come on. Who does that? Who puts the kimchi in gochujang stew?
I: Oh, but I didn’t add that much. Does it taste bad?
HI: YES.
I: Really…? It wasn’t much.
HI: Forget about this. I won’t do it again.
While Cha seemed too shocked to continue cooking, Yoo knew exactly how to calm the situation down. Luring Cha with a bowl of makgeolliYoo managed to get a smile from Cha who then went back to preparing the stew.
I: Come and get some makgeolli with me.
HI:Whose idea was it? Who did this?
I: I did. I was getting some Kimchi from the container and it smelled delicious… So I thought it would be good in the stew. Right?
HI: No… This stew shouldn’t have any Kimchi taste.
Producer Na Young Seok: Do you think you can solve it?
HI:Well, now it’s going to have to be a different stew.
I: Here, take this.
HI: Why did you do that, buddy?!
I: I just wanted to help make it tastier!
HI:I can’t believe you managed to get to the stew in the short time I was gone.
There was some back and forth, but Cha and Yoo, as always, made up and shared a hearty meal during the gochujang kimchi stew!
