TXT Yeonjun became the center of an intense discussion among fans after a message he posted on Weverse DMs was perceived as overly intimate and directed at a single individual.
The post, which at first glance seemed harmless, quickly turned into controversy as fans debated whether the idol had crossed a line.
Yeonjun’s message was intended for a specific fan he met at a fansign. In the DM, she wrote: “That’s right, there was a sweetie at the fansign who asked me to wish him a happy birthday on the 29th, but due to circumstances I couldn’t congratulate them. It’s late, but happy birthday, sweetie! I love you ❤️”
The affectionate tone that includes terms like “cute” and “I love you” immediately raised eyebrows. Fans have argued that Weverse direct messages, despite being private messages, function as a shared platform where all subscribers can see the same content.

For this reason, many felt that the message should be appropriate for everyone and not personalized to an individual Fansign participant.
Some longtime fans expressed shock and frustration, saying the message broke the thin professional distance that idols typically maintain.
Comments included:
- It’s shocking even in English. ‘Happy birthday darling’? I wouldn’t even tell my best friend.
- I miss the Yeonjun who kept his distance. The one who didn’t repost fan posts or wish individual fans a happy birthday.
- I spend money on this subscription, not to see him flirt with fans who go to fansigns.
- DMs are like a group chat. Why mention a person’s birthday? Why involve the rest of us?”
The criticism worsened when fans expressed feelings of embarrassment and disrespect, as if they were reluctant participants in a private interaction.

One user wrote: “How did I become part of Oppa’s game? Suddenly I wished someone else happy birthday in DMs? Don’t tell me he spent money, I even go on Fansigns. Feeding everyone garbage just for one person is disgusting.”
The sentiment spread quickly, with many agreeing that personal messages shouldn’t be shared across a platform designed equally for all subscribers.
As the backlash grows, Yeonjun has not yet responded to the controversy. Fans are now waiting to see if he will address the issue or change how he uses Weverse DMs moving forward.
