During the Chuseok holiday, an online community post claimed that Huening Kai was seen drinking late at night with a woman before leaving together in a car. The uploader said: “They drank until dawn and the woman was not from the family”, raising suspicions about an affair.
In the early hours of October 10, Huening Kai took to fan communication platform Weverse to provide his explanation. He wrote: “I really feel sorry for MOA and see no reason to avoid it, so I’ll say it directly. He explained that the woman was “just an acquaintance” and that he accompanied her only because “it wasn’t right to leave her alone in that situation.” He added that due to the holiday closure, they ended up at one of the few remaining open places before immediately returning to his dorm.
Huening Kai continued, “Since debut, I’ve hated causing trouble for my members and have always been a homebody. I rarely go out, but I ran into an old acquaintance for a while. Once I found myself in that situation, I kept thinking about what to do. I don’t like to lie, so I just wanted to be honest.”
The idol expressed regret to both his members and fans: “I want to focus more on my work and MOA. I wanted to become someone you can trust, but I feel like I failed to give that reassurance this time. I’m truly sorry that I made MOA worry and feel uncomfortable. For me, my members, MOA and my family come before me.”
In the meantime, TXTThe five members of recently renewed their contracts, announcing the news on August 22nd to celebrate the fandom’s birthday.
