Some are shocked by Lee Young Ji’s past.
TWICE have recently returned to the limelight with their fourteenth mini album, Strategyalong with the title track of the same name, featuring the American rapper Megan Thee Stallone.
Although Megan Thee Stallion is featured in both the song and MV, having traveled to South Korea to collaborate with TWICE, she cannot be part of all current promotions. For example, TWICE is promoting “Strategy” on music shows, but Megan Thee Stallion can’t perform her part of the song. Sometimes the rap part is omitted.
Yet, at a recent performance, TWICE brought out another female rapper to rap Megan Thee Stallion’s lines. Lee Young JiKnown for being a friend of TWICE members, he covered Megan Thee Stallion’s parts. The group was a guest on episode 11 of The Seasons: Rainbow by Lee Young Ji.
The video has gone viral, with 4.3 million views on X (formerly Twitter) as of this writing.

Many netizens loved the performance, praising it so much that they said Lee Young Ji should have been the featured artist from the beginning.
On the other hand, some netizens were not fans, and this is speaking lightly. Some begged Lee Young Ji to never do it “touch this song again.” They also wondered why one of TWICE’s rappers couldn’t just cover Megan Thee Stallion’s lines.

However, many defended TWICE and Lee Young Ji. They pointed out that Lee Young Ji is a common replacement when the original rapper cannot perform with a group. Also, Young Ji is friends with TWICE.

First of all, Youngji can perform Megan’s song and verse perfectly, so if you can do better, post it 🙄 pic.twitter.com/AaB0zsySeb

It seemed like most of the criticism against Lee Young Ji stemmed from his supposed being “anti-black.” She had previously been criticized for saying the N-word, an ethnic and racial slur against blacks that originated as early as the 15th century and is traced back to slavery. Lee Young Ji had appeared on MnetThe K-Pop music competition TV show of Good girl. In the clip, Young Ji could be heard hitting on the American rapper Tyga“Ayy Macarena,” which he samples Los Del Riothe 1996 hit “Macarena”. Tyga’s song includes the N-word in the chorus, so during rehearsals, Young Ji rapped the original lyrics, including it, but has since apologized. Many are still upset, even though four years have passed. Others accepted the apology, believing it to be genuine.
no this happened in 2020 when she was 18 I need y’all to be so serious 😭😭😭 piss me off
