In 2017, the rapper-actor was involved in an illegal marijuana use scandal that resulted in a 10-month suspended prison sentence. It had a significant impact on his career and public reputation.
In his latest interview, the former BIGBANG member reflected on that phase of his life when he was just entering his 30s. He called it a “wasted time” full of “shame, self-loathing and sincere reflection.
For me, my 30s were a waste of time. I went through a lot of shame, self-loathing, and honest reflection. While making music, I found healing and I want to share that music with my fans.

I can promise and swear that I will never make any more mistakes. Looking ahead to his 40s, TOP said his goal was “live an honest life” and gain stability. He also longed to wake up to the day when the negative publicity around him would dissipate.
