A victory worse than a defeat.
Korean media Sports Kyunghyang held an annual “Sanddalki (raspberry) Awards” since 2017, similar to the American “Golden Raspberry Awards”. which honors the worst of cinematic “failures”. THE 8th Sanddalki Prize revealed the list of winners on Dec. 25, including the names of the actors panelists deemed to be this year’s “worst actors.”
1. Kang Dong won
The senior actor received 11 votes for his acting in the film, The plot. It was criticized as the main reason for the film’s failure as panelists called him insufficient as an actor despite 21 years in the industry.
2. “None of the above”
10 of the panelists voted for the “none” option, implying that no actor on the list was worthy of second place.
3. Ju Ji Hoon
Ju Ji Hoon was crowned this year’s third worst actor by eight panelists for his performance in Silence Project. Some of the negative reviews surrounding him accused him of overacting.
4. Song Joong Ki and Song Seung Hun
With seven votes each, Song Joong Ki and Song Seung Hun ranked fourth, tied for first My name is Loh Kiwan and the latter for Hidden face. Song Joong Ki was criticized for his inconsistent acting and his attempt at a Yanbian accent in the film. Meanwhile, Song Seung Hun was criticized for his flat performance and lack of emotional depth in his latest film.
