What’s going on behind the scenes?
A new release from a fourth generation idol has been put under the microscope by fans. Some believe there is more to the “official music video” than meets the eye.
Solo in February Alexa talked about his lack of promotions. AleXa told fans that she is still a K-Pop idol and that this misunderstanding stems from her lack of promotions.
AleXa went on to explain that she hadn’t been properly promoted for two years, and the reason was a mystery, even to her.
I just haven’t promoted in about two years. I don’t know why. I can’t tell you why. I do not know. But I hope that this year I promote. If not this year, then next year, so we’ll see. But we are currently working on releasing an album in English, and the first single will be released on Friday, so I hope that even though the K-Pop aspect isn’t there, you will still support me and my artistry moving forward with this American album. Yes, because that’s more or less all I have at the moment…

In June, AleXa returned to the spotlight with an angsty English single titled “i’m okay.” In the comments section, AleXa said that the song “it means a lot” to her.
I just want to say thank you so much for waiting so patiently for the song to come out 🥹 I know you got a taste of it six months ago at the jingle ball, but that day is finally here!!! this song means a lot to me, and I hope it becomes a meaningful song for all of you too, stay strong and never be afraid to ask for help

However, AleXa expressed her disappointment with the direction of her career on X, writing “i miss doing kpop lmao.”

So when the teaser for AleXa’s “Under the Armour” dropped on December 10, fans were hoping that this release would mark her return to K-Pop and the fictional universe that had been established in her previous K-music videos Pop.
Unfortunately, those hopes were dashed when fans realized that “Under the Armor” is a performance video that was “renamed” as the official music video. “Under the Armour” was not recorded recently and the song is not in Korean.
In the comments section, some fans expressed excitement about the “return,” but others believe that AleXa’s agency, ZB label, released the song without her permission and also at a less than ideal time. Alexa’s father died in October.
“Under the Armour” was also promoted on AleXa’s X and Instagram accounts, but even so, some netizens believe the release is “shaded” and it was probably done without Alexa’s approval.
