K-pop’s presence has gone global, given the number of artists making an impact abroad. This type of international recognition has also attracted the attention of several awarding bodies outside of Korea, including the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA).
On October 8, this year’s EMAs announced the award categories and which artists will participate in those lists. According to the site, several K-pop artists have managed to place their names in various categories due to their success, releases and popularity.
Here are 7 K-pop artists included in the 2024 MTV EMA nominations!
1. BLACKPINK Lisa
Lisa earned four nominations at the 2024 EMAs, with her new song “New Woman” (feat. Rosalía) placing in the Best Video and Best Collaboration categories. As a solo artist, Lisa has also been nominated for Biggest Fans and Best K-pop.
2. THE SERAPHINS
Fourth-generation leader LE SSERAFIM secured nominations for Best New, Best Push and Best K-pop.
3. BTS Jungkook
Jungkook was nominated for the Best K-pop award.
4. Jimin from BTS
Just like his BTS bandmate, Jimin also secured a nomination for Best K-pop.
5. New Jeans
As a powerhouse in both K-pop and the mainstream, NewJeans received a nod for Best K-pop.
6. Stray children
The best K-pop also included Stray Kids, given their successful music releases.
7. YOU
Finally, ILLIT was a surprise entry into the Best Asia Act category.
