As the conflict that now directly involves NewJeans unfolded, the words of SM EntertainmentThe names of the then CEO of HYBE have resurfaced.
In 2023, after The Man Lee Soo has apparently been ousted from SM, HYBE has made headlines for apparently attempting to acquire SM Entertainment through a share purchase.
Although this has been circumvented by Cocoa by purchasing a larger percentage of the company’s shares, the move drew criticism from many, including then-CEO Lee Sung SooAfter exposing Lee Soo Man in more than one video, the CEO then directed his comments toward HYBE in a now-deleted or private YouTube video titled “Why SM is Against the Hostile Takeover of HYBE.”

I hope you realize this has happened before. Hybe bought so many companies in 2019 and 2020 and eventually Gfriend took a hit and disbanded, and they’re not the only ones who have been abused. https://t.co/lcnZOVFnG6

Qrts need to realize that this person is not saying that SM is a good company because they are both terrible, what he is saying is that SM was right in saying that if HYBE took over SM, the bands would be pushed into the basement and stripped of their unique musical concepts and identities https://t.co/JtZ6XeYam9

considering the hostile attitude towards groups that bang sihyuk did not create (gfriend, fromis, newjeans…) they were actually planning to mistreat or mitigate groups in sm, especially aespa. https://t.co/XPtmulaSUm

even before this, Hybe’s attempt to take over SM Kings terrified me… Hybe has already bought/owns now so many K-pop companies and it’s so worrying, it’s like they want a monopoly on the entire industry… One company shouldn’t be able to buy and control so many K-pop companies https://t.co/83DnfMOQFy
