The controversy appeared from A Tiktok Video published by the singer in which he has lipsnulate Blackpink member Jennie“Love Hangover”. Umi’s interpretation received praise on the platform, with many who suggested that they make a complete cover of the song. But some read in the video, associating it with the voices of appointments between Jennie and V, who took the internet in 2023.

The fire was further powered by a specific commentary under the Umi video. A user praised it for the choice of the song, to which he replied with some happy emojis. Although the exchange was quite docile, many took an objection with it since Umi replied was a “ship” report by Jennie and V.
This invited the vitriol against the singer, with many who accused her of having tried to chase the weight using the voices of appointments between the two idols. The comments of hatred became so intense that the singer eventually faced the problem in a new video by Tiktok.
Umi explained that he had no other intention behind the coverage of the song, adding that he never likes to indicate the personal life of the artists with whom he collaborates and therefore he was not aware of the voices to begin with. He clarified he thought that the comment was praising his choice of song and replied from that interpretation.
