The meaning of DAY 6The name was finally revealed after a long 9 years. The boys debuted on September 7, 2015. Fans had simply assumed that the name did not have much meaning behind it, and that it was simply a name given by the company. In past interviews, the boys had said that it represents the six days of the week, as there were originally 6 members when they debuted.
In their recent episode on IU‘S PaletteThe boys finally revealed the true meaning and origin. The boys only discovered the true meaning of their name a full 9 years after their debut.

This was the first time we heard about it in 9 years. We never talked about it accurately. For 9 years, we thought Park Jin Young invented it. It was when the CEO was watching a movie. You know how in disaster movies, the subtitles would be like “Day 1, Day 2,” stuff like that? He said “Day 6” came up. He saw it and got a vibe. That’s how it was born.
