A chilling mystery will be highlighted on the SBS investigative program WITHOUT ANSWER September 20. The episode follows a series of bizarre resignation among the flight attendants, all connected to the shamanic initiation rituals conducted in the same sanctuary.
The case emerged for the first time in July, when the veteran flight attendant “Jung Hye-Won” (ALIA), after 14 years of service in a large airline, announced its resignation through an e-mail sent to over 2,000 colleagues. In his farewell, he revealed that he had undergone a shaman’s initiation and was starting a new life as a spiritual practitioner. The E -mail even included a business card with the name of its sanctuary and the spiritual title.
Her colleagues, although shocked, wished them well. But the suspicions grew when it emerged that another flight attendant, “Lee Soo-Jung” (alias), who joined the airline the same year, had also stopped after receiving a similar initiation. The two women had been both linked to the same sanctuary.
The mystery deepened when it was revealed that Lee Soo-Jung’s younger sister had also undergone the initiation of the shaman in the same position a year earlier. All three were connected to a spiritual leader known by the pseudonym Chaedo Ryeong, who manages a sanctuary in Dongducheon called Janghosa (ALIA).
The members of the family interviewed by SBS expressed shock and despair. Jung Hye-Won’s mother said she received a legal notice that asked her not to contact her daughter, while Lee Soo-Jung’s father admitted that she had no idea that her two daughters had become shamans. Both families said that Chaedo Ryeong encouraged his followers to cut ties to relatives.
By adding to their suspicions, family members said that the money – including the support of parents and personal savings – had disappeared after women became disciples.
According to investigations, Chaedo Ryeong has started almost 10 followers in just three or four years, most of whom are women over 30 years of age, including flight attendants and company employees.
The program will deepen if this is a simple coincidence or a calculated scheme, asking: who is Chaedo Ryeong, and why are so many young women attracted in his sanctuary?
WITHOUT ANSWER aims to shed light on the growing concerns of families who claim to simply want their daughters “Back home.”
