The “My Love from the Star” actor remembers being hit by a sword and having his head covered in blood

In the October 27 broadcast of Park Myung Soo’s radio showYoo Jun Sang has shared, for the first time, details of a traumatic incident that occurred in 2015 during a performance of the musical Robin Hood. Towards the end of the first act, a co-star’s sword accidentally cut his forehead, leaving him with a deep wound that was bleeding profusely.

“My forehead was cut open and there was a lot of blood” You remembered. “But I quickly erased it and continued to perform with the spirit of a warrior. The audience might have thought it was simply an incredibly realistic performance.”

Incredibly, during intermission, Yoo managed to receive 11 stitches without anesthesia in a beauty clinic located on the eighth floor of the venue, before rushing back to finish the show. “Luckily, there was a plastic surgery clinic in the building. The doctor was about to leave, but I stopped him just in time and stitched myself up before returning to the stage.”

Yoo also revealed why he refused to stop performing despite his injury. “If the audience were to be refunded, the production company would suffer huge losses. That’s why I chose to bear the pain and move forward.”

This wasn’t the first time Yoo Jun Sang risked his health for his profession. In 2013, during the filming of the film Fists of Legendhe tore his ACL during a martial arts scene. Despite being told to return to Seoul for immediate surgery, Yoo pushed through, knowing that halting production would cost the studio over 500 million won (about $380,000) to rebuild the set. He completed the scene but collapsed from hypothermia when the director yelled “cut”.

Online communities have since been flooded with praise for Yoo’s extraordinary professionalism and dedication to his craft, calling him a true example of an actor committed to his work.

Yoo Jun Sang made his acting debut at the age of 26 in the drama Kka-chi-ne. He rose to prominence with Moss (2010), earning numerous awards for Best Supporting Actor. Over the years, he has built an impressive filmography with titles such as My love from the star, The Attic: War in Life, The mysterious counter, Gracious friends, Alchemy of soulsand many others also excelling in musical theatre.
