Ahead of SMNGG’s debut in 2025, Internet sleuths theorized that a veteran singer’s daughter will be the lead singer.
Who is she?
According to SM Entertainment’s music lineup preview for the first quarter of next year, its new girl group after aespa will finally be launched, which is now dubbed the label’s “Second SNSD”.
The group is expected to have nine members from South Korea and Southeast Asian countries.
Ahead of its launch, SM has been teasing members with teaser clips and photos flaunting their skills.
Right now, eagle-eyed fans are speculating that one of the trainees who will debut will be Park Soyoon, the daughter of rock band singer Park Sangmin who rose to fame in the 1980s.
He was also known for singing “Crazy for You”, the opening song of the anime “Slam Dunk”.
Just hearing these details, the controversy about her being a “Nepo baby” almost took off, but Koreans were quick to refute it and recalled how she had made a name for herself since she was young.
In the past, she participated in Mnet’s singing competition “We Kid”, where she showed off her excellent voice.
She also shared a duet with her father Sangmin and hit the high notes of the song “Endless Love” by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross.
She is not only known for her voice but also for her wit. Notably, Soyoon once appeared in SBS’s “Gifted and Talented Excavation Team 2” as a gifted person with extraordinary memorization skills.
Her images were also praised, with people admiring her double eyelids, her beautiful smile and her nose which somehow reminded fans of Red Velvet’s lead singer Wendy.
Her debut has yet to be confirmed, but K-netz is already giving her rave reviews.
- “He definitely inherited his father’s talent.”
- “She reminds me a little of Wendy. She’s so cute and refreshing.”
- “It looks like it will become popular.”
- “Ah, she’s (Park Sangmin’s) second daughter. I hope she does well too!”
- “Idols also have to memorize dance songs and foreign languages, and there are many things they have to memorize, so having this memorization ability would be an advantage.”
