It was in Manila.
A popular Korean streamer and freelance announcer has made headlines after testing positive for drug use upon returning to Korea.
Kim Na Jeong was investigated by Incheon International Airport police on November 12. She is suspected of violating drug control laws.
Initial tests revealed the presence of methamphetamine in Kim’s system.
According to sources, the police have requested an in-depth analysis from the National Forensic Service to further confirm the findings.
Kim had stayed in Manila, Philippines, before returning to Korea, where she was interrogated for about two hours upon arrival at Incheon airport. The investigation was conducted after the star confessed to the crime on social media. In the now deleted post, Kim admitted to having used drugs.
I confess that I used drugs while in the Philippines. I feel like I’m going to die, so I can’t get on the plane.
—Kim Na Jeong
The post was soon removed but had already circulated widely online, leading an interested person to file a complaint with the authorities, urging them to look into the matter.
Incheon Airport Police intend to transfer the details of Kim’s case to the police department in charge of his residence for further investigation. A representative explained that Kim asked for help, citing concerns for his safety, which prompted officials to provide protection and investigate his drug use immediately upon his arrival.
Meanwhile, Kim has already built a career as a freelance announcer and meteorologist and has appeared in various entertainment programs.
