Yuqi of the famous K-Pop Girl I-Tolele group has assumed a manufacturer’s role for the Rookie Boy Nowz group of Cube Entertainment, marking a significant milestone in its expanding creative portfolio.
The 25-year-old Chinese singer-songwriter officially joined the production team for the single pre-report by Nowz “Fly Freeely”, which was released on Tuesday.
Nowz, previously known as today, is made up of five members: Hyunbin, Yoon, Yeonwoo, Jinhyuk and Siyoon. The group has undergone a strategic rebranding in June 2025, changing its name to establish a new identity and present new possibility since it aims to become a trend group. The name Nowz combines “now”, which represents the present moment, with “Z”, which symbolizes expanded and new beginnings.
Yuqi’s involvement with Nowz goes beyond the typical senior-junior tutoring within the same entertainment company. He also participated in the writing texts, composing, producing and presenting “Fly freely”, providing complete support to his junior colleagues. The collaboration represents a pop song characterized by a compelling guitar sound.
The partnership follows the track record established by the I-Telle member as a producer and songwriter. Previously he contributed to the traces of his group including “Lost”, “Giant” and “Love Tease” and played an important role in his first mini-album “Yuq1”, gaining credits on all five songs including the trace of the title.
His production skills have been recognized through his work on various I-Tele albums, in which he has constantly participated in songwriting and composition together with the primary songwriter Soyeon.
Nowz originally debuted on April 2, 2024, with his first single album “Today”. Since then, the group has released several digital singles including “Rainy Day (2024 remake ver.),” “Nowhere” and “Let’s Get it”.
Despite being relatively new for industry, Nowz He has already obtained a wide recognition, winning the Rookie Award at the Korea Grand Music Awards of 2024 and the Blooming Star Award on the 32nd anniversary Hanteo Music Awards 2024.
The collaboration between Nowz and Yuqi also includes a music video that conveys Wandering youth themes, with excellent cinema and a plot that recalls youth films. Yuqi made a special apparition in the music video teaser, attracting the attention of global fans. This partnership represents the Cube Entertainment strategy to take advantage of the success of its established artists to support emerging talents within the corporate roster.
