Chinese actress Zhao Yingzi, who recently shifted her focus to e-commerce through live streaming sales, first attracted attention during a broadcast on January 20. While presenting the products, Zhao Yingzi suddenly stopped after noticing that the exhibition area behind her was messy and that staff members were gathered together chatting instead of working.
He openly expressed his frustration on air, criticizing the team for being unfocused and failing to fulfill their responsibilities. Raising her voice, Zhao Yingzi complained that staff members received relatively high salaries but demonstrated poor work attitude.
According to China Times, the actress appeared to lose control again during a subsequent live stream. On that broadcast, his assistant reportedly arrived nearly an hour late. When the assistant explained that the delay was due to a personal visit from a friend, Zhao Yingzi became visibly angry.
She slammed her hand on the table and questioned the assistant’s professionalism, saying she had stayed up all night preparing for the live stream. In front of thousands of viewers, Zhao Yingzi criticized the assistant for failing to meet expectations, pointing out that the entire team had invested a lot of time, effort and financial resources into the broadcast.
At the height of the incident, Zhao Yingzi directly shared her emotions with viewers, saying that she didn’t want to get angry because the stress could negatively affect her health. However, he admitted that it was difficult to control his emotions when work kept getting interrupted.

After clips from the live stream were released online, public opinion quickly became divided. Many viewers criticized Zhao Yingzi, arguing that publicly berating employees on camera was inappropriate and reflected poor management skills that could emotionally harm staff. Some commentators have suggested that the actress may have intentionally stirred up controversy to gain attention. Others, however, defended his actions, saying that arriving late for work and losing concentration during working hours were unacceptable behavior, especially in a highly disciplined environment such as livestream trading.
Most recently, Zhao Yingzi sparked a public debate after claiming that she and actor Jiang Yi had a “three-day trial marriage”, during which they got engaged, married and divorced within three days. He compared the relationship to “try a mask before you buy it: if you don’t like it, just tear it off” an observation that immediately sparked widespread discussion.
