A disturbing accident aroused indignation among K-Pop fans around the world after Eunho, a member of the boy group UnitedHe was almost attacked by a fan during a performance abroad.
The group performed at 18th Korea Culture Day in San Paolo, in Brazil, on August 17th. After the show, while the members made their way through a dense crowd, a female fan suddenly died and tried to forcefully kiss Eunho.
The videos circulating on social media show that Eunho is approached aggressively, only for the staff and the safety of intervening immediately. The idol was quickly escorted, avoiding direct contact.
The online reaction was quick and critical: “This is clearly sexual harassment and a crime” AND “The artist’s security should be the utmost priority in every event.”
The organizers of the event have issued formal apologies, affirming: “We deeply sorry the accident of sexual harassment during the performance. No form of this behavior can ever be tolerated.”
UnitedThe agency, the new mint music, has also released a declaration, emphasizing both the artist and the safety of the fans: “The excessive approach of some fans has threatened Eunho’s security during the event. These actions can endanger not only our artists, but also the fans present on the scene. We ask for rigorous respect for the safe boundaries.”
Later he reassured Eunho fans through a private communication platform: “I was surprised, but I dodged quickly. Don’t worry, I’m fine.”
This accident has rekindled the discussions within the K-Pop community on the protection of idol and on the fans label, in particular during tours abroad where the safety protocols may vary.
