It was his reaction to her role in the film that ultimately led to the divorce.
Model turned actress Jang Ga Hyunbest known for her role in KBS‘S Marriage clinic: love and warhe was married to 015B singer Cho Sung Min (also known as Jo Sung Min) for two decades. The two married in 2000 and had two children, but divorced in 2020.
In 2022, the two appeared on TV Chosun‘S We divorced Season 2, in which their troubled marriage was publicized. The show revealed that the divorcing couple had a number of issues that led to unresolved feelings of resentment towards each other.
As of November 7, 2024 (KST), Jang appeared in the latest episode of MBN‘S Exclusive world (OR Teuk Jong Se Sang) in which she delved into her struggle against her ex-husband’s excessive interference in her career.
According to Jang, her ex-husband was never too supportive of her acting. But when he received an offer to play a role in a 2019 film, How to live in this worldhe encouraged her at first.
The encouragement didn’t last long, though, as he began harassing her for a sex scene included in the role. Jang said: “It was so, so stressful having to talk to him about it,” while he questioned her about the scene, about the way the moans were felt about it.
Then I received an offer for a role in a film. After receiving the script, I told my ex-husband that I really wanted to go back to making films and that this role could really become an opportunity for me. I told him I would love to take on the role. He accepted and encouraged me. So I accepted the role and started shooting.
But the role came with a sex scene. He would ask me things like, “what part did you work on today?” or “how do you complain about rehearsals?” and whatnot. It was so, so stressful having to talk to him about it.

Previously, Jang had broached the topic with her ex-husband on the TV show Chosun and the ex-husband admitted that he “hated” his work. She commented that his lack of respect for her career was the final straw that led to the divorce.
Jang Ga Hyun: I think the movie broke the camel’s back for me. You… I thought you were okay with me working on that movie. But once I realized that you couldn’t handle it, I couldn’t control my anger towards you. For me it was a job. What I do. But it felt like you were making fun of me and harassing me about it. It was really stressful for me.
Cho Sung Jin: I know. I absolutely hated what came of your work. Like I have to show skin… Even something like a scene where you’re wearing a bathing suit, I was very sensitive about that.
Jang Ga Hyun: You were the one who gave me the okay too. And I thought, after 20 years of marriage, that everything would be fine with you. You told me, “Do it if you really want it.” So I did it. But obviously you didn’t agree. What was I supposed to do, though? I had already accepted the role and started shooting… I was stressed during the two years of filming. Every time you asked me what scenes I worked on… Or when you asked me if I complained on set? Oh, I literally felt harassed.
After the movie, the divorce, and the Chosun TV show publicizing the divorce, Jang could no longer act. She said she has not received an offer for K-Drama or K-Movie since 2022 and continues to live with debts accumulated after her attempt to do business without acting failed and her ex-husband chose not to share the weight.
Jang explained that she and her ex-husband chose to appear We divorced for the money. She ended up receiving a huge amount of hateful comments after the show and hasn’t spoken to her ex-husband since.
