On the morning of April 4, the Constitutional Court confirmed Yoon’s impeachment. The justice of the head of acting Moon Hyung-Bae said, “President Yoon Suk-Yeol has been fired.” The decision had an immediate effect, officially removing Yoon from the 122 -day office after declaring martial law on December 3, 2024.
Joyful reactions from celebrities in support of impeachment
The Lee Dong-Wook actor expressed relief through the bubble of the fans’ platform, “Finally, spring has arrived. Winter was too long. It should rain today, but the skies are clear. Exit and enjoy on Friday evening.” Previously, Lee Dong-Wook had supported gatherings in favor of the impeachment, sharing the generations of girls “In the new world” with fans.
The singer Lee Seung-Hwan, who previously performed in an anti-yoon event, shared her euphoria on Instagram, “Today I will take a drink at the Dream Factory (his agency). Usually I avoid alcohol during the concerts and my ENT doctor recommended me, but how could I not drink the day when my country and I survived?”
The actresses Shin So-Yul and Jung Young-Joo have also joined the choir. Shin has published a video of the latest MBC news on the dismissal of Yoon, subtitled, “Congratulations, everyone. We live honestly and diligently together from now on. Spring is here.” The news clip included the caption, “People have the dictatorship of Yoon.” Jung Young-Joo shared a video by watching the sentence, subtiting it, “Hurray! Mansei. Opposition of Yoon supporters
The singer Jk Kim Dong-Wook, however, expressed bitterness. On Instagram, he wrote, “Never never changing. I used to laugh at the forecasts that Korea would collapse by 2060, but perhaps it will happen before. Once I believed that things could change, but now I think the world could fall faster than expected.”
A well-known supporter of Yoon, Jk Kim Dong-Wook had previously published a photo of the Korean flag with the caption, “Protecting the president is protecting the country”. His public displeasure following the dismissal of Yoon attracted attention.
The actor Choi Joon-Yong also expressed his broken heart. In the Community tab of his YouTube channel, he wrote, “It hurts, but thanks for having awakened people. You suffered a lot.” He included a photo of the official Yoon declaration issued after the sentence.
Unanimous decision of the Court
The decision of the Constitutional Court to support the impeachment was unanimous: all eight judges agreed. The Court said, “The illegal conduct of the accused had serious and large -scale consequences for the constitutional order. The advantage of defending the Constitution through the dismissal far exceeds the national cost of removing a president in the session.”
