It all depends on the deal between IST Entertainment and One Hundred.
Recent developments indicate that the popular K-Pop group THE BOYS may face a potential name change following a move to a new agency, A Hundred.
The company was co-founded with investments from famous people MC Mr – had long behind-the-scenes negotiations with the group, culminating in an exclusive contract recently signed by the members.
THE BOYS will officially leave IST Entertainment and move to One Hundred
Speculation about the group’s move to One Hundred had been circulating in the industry since the spring, although the agency had refrained from confirming any details, simply stating that nothing was definitive. However, it has now emerged that One Hundred has been preparing for the transition since the summer.
To prevent possible naming rights disputes, One Hundred trademarked “The Boys” on August 28. Most recently, on November 13, they attempted to secure additional trademarks, including “The New Boyz” and the abbreviated “TNBZ.” This move suggests that the group could adopt a different name if necessary.
Negotiations between One Hundred and THE BOYZ’s former management company, IST Entertainment, are reportedly ongoing. If the two parties are unable to reach an agreement on the rights to the group’s current name, a rebranding for THE BOYZ could be on the horizon.
