On April 4, IU appeared alongside Byeon Woo Seok on the variety show Pinggyego to promote his next drama Perfect crown. During the show, national MC Yoo Jae Suk talked about IU’s longtime relationship with comedian Park Myung Soo, revealing a surprising story behind it.
According to IU, she first met Park Myung Soo at a music festival in 2010. At the time, Jessica Jung was originally supposed to perform a duet with him, but had to cancel due to scheduling conflicts. IU was then invited to replace him.
However, when IU, who was then only 17 and still relatively unknown, approached to greet him, Park Myung Soo reacted harshly, reportedly shouting: “Who is that? Call Jessica! Call Jessica now!” refusing to perform with her.
Yoo Jae Suk recalled that despite the tense moment, IU remained calm and composed, responding with an attitude that suggested, “Well… it is what it is.” He continued to perform on stage with Park Myung Soo without showing any resentment.
Later, realizing that his behavior might hurt a young artist’s pride and feelings, Park Myung Soo personally approached IU to apologize. Since then, IU revealed, he has continued to apologize to her every year.
