Jang Na Ra trained with BoA and other male trainees for 4 years under SM Entertainment. BoA debuted as a soloist first, while Jang Na Ra would debut with other trainees as a girl group. SM Entertainment was looking for more female trainees when they were suddenly registered on KOSDAQ. The expansion led the company to decide to debut Jang Na Ra as a solo artist. His first album featured both the ONE UP and SM Entertainment logos.
Jang Na Ra’s first album became famous when it brought attention to the sitcom New Non-stopleading it to sell 320,000 copies in total. This was a huge number for Korean singers at the time as the market was limited.
Subsequently, Jang Na Ra would have a total of 6 Korean and 3 Chinese albums. She became a successful singer and actress.
