It really started from the bottom.
Actor Choi Daniele recently opened up about his harrowing childhood in his latest episode YouTube show, ChoiDa Cheese by Choi Daniel.
The fourth episode of the show featured the actress Jeon So Min as a special guest. During one of their conversations about family, Choi mentioned that he lost his mother when he was very young. “My mother died when I was four. My older brother is six years older than me.
After losing his mother, Choi Daniel had a difficult home life. She recalled that her father was extremely busy trying to make ends meet for his two children. “We needed at least the bare essentials. So it was incredibly busy,” he explained.
Choi shared some specific tidbits from his childhood memory, recalling how sometimes he couldn’t even afford to buy school uniforms. “Then there was this famous brand called Ivy Club. I couldn’t afford that brand… I ended up buying my uniform at a place near the school.” He added: “Or I would wear the ones used by the school.
The actor recalled how he hated playing in his white uniform because he couldn’t afford a second one in case it got stained. He also had an argument with a close friend who accidentally put some sauce on his uniform. “That’s how much I cared about my uniform,” he explained.
His circumstances also pushed Choi to start working as a high school student and to live on his own since he was 20.
Despite such difficult circumstances, Choi Daniel has been able to build a successful career in entertainment that has spanned nearly two decades! He currently appears in a KBS K-Drama, I’m sorry, I’m not sorry, with Jeon So Min.
