After five years of successful sobriety, Paris Jackson has shown signs of emotional turmoil, raising deep concern among family members who fear she may slip back into the darkness she once fought desperately to escape and potentially repeating the tragedy of her legendary father, Michael Jackson.
The family’s concern grows
In recent days, Paris Jackson has become the center of public attention after filing a lawsuit regarding the multibillion-dollar fortune of her father, the “King of Pop.” Michael Jackson.
On November 18, he filed a complaint in Los Angeles, accusing co-executors John Branca and John McClain of abusing their authority, receiving excessive compensation and improperly investing more than $464 million.
Previously, on November 13, the Los Angeles Superior Court rejected nearly all of Paris’ requests and ordered her to pay the defendants’ legal fees.
As the legal conflict intensifies, her family becomes increasingly concerned about the 1998-born model’s emotional instability. They believe Paris’ filing of this lawsuit signals that the clarity and stability she has maintained for the past five years could be unraveled and she could once again fall back into the darkness she fought so hard to escape, risking yet another heartbreaking chapter in the Jackson family’s tumultuous history.
A family member told Page Six, “This doesn’t seem strategic. It seems emotional. And when Paris gets emotional, that’s when the family gets more scared. She’s been through hell, and sometimes, old wounds overcome logic.”
The Jackson family witnessed Paris’ darkest times, which began before she was even a teenager. They watched her spiral out for days, self-harm, overdose and collapse under the subsequent trauma and psychological pain. MichaelHis sudden death in 2009.
Echoes of Michael’s struggles
Michael Jackson‘s instability became evident in 2001. At the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in February of that year, rumors spread that the singer appeared gaunt and anxious.
In September, during his 30th anniversary celebration concerts at Madison Square Garden, family members became even more alarmed. At an after-party at Tavern on the Green, Michael he reportedly told his brother he wasn’t sure he could perform the second show.

A family member recalled: “He didn’t look good. Rumors said he drank Jack Daniel’s like water. Mixing it with the painkillers he’d used for years terrified everyone.”
In 2002, the Jacksons underwent intensive group therapy in Malibu. Due to father Joe Jackson’s strict and abusive parenting, including all siblings Michael it bore deep emotional scars. Therapy was considered essential, but Michael refused to participate.
The inherited darkness
At that time, Paris was only four years old. However, as she grew up, she began to exhibit the same patterns as her father: withdrawing, suffering emotional breakdowns, keeping secrets, rebelling, and vanishing.
Another familiar source explained: “Part of her pain comes from witnessing what her father went through. Women feel things more deeply. She said he constantly told her, ‘They’re trying to kill me. They’re trying to take you guys away.’ He was deeply paranoid. He saw everything with his own eyes.”
After MichaelAfter Paris’ death, 11-year-old Paris, already devastated, fell further into despair amid intense family arguments at Hayvenhurst’s home in Encino, California.
He entered what relatives described as a “cold, blank look.” She locked herself in her room for days. When the door finally opened, she would disappear.

“He kept disappearing. Every time we panicked. The concerns for the safety of Michael Jackson’s daughter were very real,” a family member said.
In June 2013, less than a month before the fourth anniversary of MichaelAfter the death, emergency responders received a report of a drug overdose at Paris’ home. Reports at the time said he had attempted to cut his wrist. He later confirmed that he had attempted suicide.
Relatives described the moment as catastrophic. Paris showed no desire to live, isolated itself completely and refused all advice.
The accident deeply traumatized the family in particular Catherine Jackson, MichaelThe mother, who at the age of 83 was too frail to withstand such a shock.
Paris eventually developed an addiction to heroin and alcohol. At the beginning of November he revealed on social media that he had a perforated nasal septum due to years of drug abuse. “Drugs ruined my life” he shared.
This was not the only consequence. He endured sleepless nights followed by days of unconsciousness. He hid needle marks and self-inflicted wounds under large clothing.
His brother, Prince Jackson, has repeatedly pleaded with the family to intervene. Her biological mother, Debbie Rowe, often ran to her in the middle of the night to calm her down.
“Growing up in such an abnormal environment being the daughter of the most famous person in the world explains why she turned to drugs to cope with emotional and physical pain,” a relative said.
When Paris began to receive funds from Michaelon his estate, his instability appeared in new ways. Insiders said he once bought seven homes in a short period.
“Now do you think the problem is property management? Imagine if she had full control. She would buy a house, then decide she didn’t like it and buy another. Does that sound reasonable to you?” the insider asked.
Uncertainty about the process
In her recent statement, Paris accused Branca and McClain of deliberately delaying the succession so they could maintain control of the estate until a judge concludes the trial and hands it over to her and her siblings.
According to her, while the brothers awaited their inheritance, more than $460 million in cash within the estate worth about $3 billion produced no profit, while the executors paid themselves large sums and invested tens of millions in side projects.

Based on 2021 records, Paris pointed out that Branca and McClain received $8 million in compensation, while Branca’s law firm received an additional $2 million. He pointed out that the longer the succession process continued, the richer the executors became.
However, some believe that a third party could influence the legal battle behind the scenes.
A source told the New York Post: “Some family members have resisted giving outside executors control of the estate from day one and have never stopped trying to undermine it.”
Paris also criticized the upcoming biopic Michaelaccusing Branca of using his father’s money to produce a film despite having no film experience, and of hiring A-list actor Miles Teller to play him. Yet, following the release of the trailer, many believe the film could become one of the most successful musical biopics ever made.
Longtime associates of the Jackson family have defended the management of the estate: “Michael died with debts of over half a billion dollars. The executors not only paid for everything, but also rebuilt the estate. The Paris attack now is truly shocking.”
Another source added: “She’s stubborn and gets terrible advice. Everyone wants her to stay in the light. What they fear most is that she’ll be dragged back into the darkness that almost killed her.”
Paris Jackson has not commented on the ongoing concerns.
