According to a recent report from Yahoo Japan, 64-year-old actor Kataoka Kamezo died in a tragic fire in Adachi Ward, Tokyo. The accident occurred in a three-story building where the first floor served as a confectionery laboratory, while the second and third served as a residence. Kataoka Kamezo had gone to visit his close friend, one of two brothers who lived in the house, when the fire broke out.
At the time of the fire, the older brother managed to escape unharmed from the second floor. However, Kataoka and his younger brother were found unconscious due to carbon monoxide poisoning and were rushed to the hospital. Tragically, Kataoka died shortly after arriving at the medical facility. His friend has regained consciousness and is currently in stable condition.
Authorities are actively investigating the cause of the fire. The fire was first reported around 4 a.m. on Nov. 24, after a neighbor noticed heavy smoke coming from the third floor. The firefighters intervened promptly and managed to put out the flames after about two hours. Approximately 30 square meters of the living space was destroyed in the fire.
