Tears Flow as ‘Crypto Man’ Director Recalls Jae-rim Song ‘An Unreadable Face, I Miss You’

A press preview of “Crypto Man” (directed by Hyun Hae-ri) was held on January 6 at CGV Yongsan I’Park mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by director Hyun Hae-ri, along with actors Ahn Woo-yeon, Min Sung-wook, Cha Jung-won and So Hee-jung, who shared various stories about the film.

“Crypto Man” is the story of the cryptocurrency collapse that shook the world by evaporating 50 trillion won. This film marks the last work of Song Jae-rim, who tragically passed away in November last year. Song Jae-rim played Yang Do-hyun, the protagonist and self-proclaimed business genius behind the development of a cryptocurrency called MOMMY.

When asked about Song Jae-rim, director Hyun Hae-ri, overcome with emotion, cried. After regaining her composure, she explained: “I thought the character was supposed to have an unreadable face. After holding auditions, I chose him and he turned out to be incredibly knowledgeable about cryptocurrency. I still vividly remember our first delightful conversation. The moment I saw it, I thought, “It’s Yang Do-hyun.”

He added: “Throughout the process of making the film, we had many conversations and he gave us many ideas. At first people misunderstood him because of the impression he gave, but he was such a warm and funny person. I miss him so much, and it’s truly heartbreaking. It would have been wonderful if he could be here with us today.”

“Crypto Man” will be released on January 15th.
