Taiwan’s martial arts actor found died at home after divorce and career struggles

On March 14 (local time), several Taiwan media, including Yiping News Network and Sanli News Network, reported that the martial arts actor Chang Chen-Huan was found dead in his home.

According to the local police, the authorities discovered his body after receiving news of a strange smell from a residence in the Nangang district, Taipei. The cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed.

Debuting in 1976, Chang Chen-Huan gained fame in Taiwan’s film industry, specialized in action roles and vintage dramas in the genre of Chinese martial arts. However, when aged, his career decreased and fought to obtain roles.

In recent years, he has faced accusations of domestic violence, leading to a divorce. His financial problems worsened after a bankrupt trade company and according to what was reported he suffered from bipolar disorder and alcohol dependence. His struggles often made news in Taiwan’s media.

On March 28, a farewell ceremony was held for Chang Chen-Huan, attended by his son and ex-wife. However, his two brothers were considerably absent and the memorial proceeded in a quiet and submerged way.
