A Taiwanese social media influencer known online as the “face-tuning queen” of medical aesthetics has been arrested after police discovered illegal narcotics in her home in New Taipei City. The 29-year-old woman, nicknamed Wu, who boasts tens of thousands of followers on Instagram, was taken into custody after a raid uncovered marijuana vape cartridges and MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy), raising serious questions about her alleged cosmetics business and online personality.
According to New Taipei police, authorities had received a tip that Wu was in possession of drugs. After conducting a surveillance operation and gathering sufficient evidence, law enforcement obtained a search warrant. On December 4, officers raided Wu’s residence in Sanchong District on Dingwen Road, where they found three marijuana vape cartridges weighing a total of 26.3 grams and 16 MDMA pills weighing 24.3 grams, along with a pipe used for cannabis consumption. Wu admitted that the substances were for his personal use.
Wu was transferred to the New Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office following the search and was charged under Taiwan’s Narcotics Risk Prevention Law. Police reiterated their “zero tolerance” stance on drug-related crime and said investigations would continue to trace the origin of the substances.
Wu’s online identity further intensified public attention. She describes herself on Instagram as a “Master of Personalized Medical Aesthetic Facial Transformation,” saying she has served over 10,000 clients across Taiwan. It aims to offer services in Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung through “legally licensed” clinics. However, authorities revealed that Wu’s registered business, established in 2022, is officially classified as a cosmetics wholesaler based in Zhongshan District, Taipei. Lacks a physical clinic, medical license, or any publicly listed address. Customers are reportedly having to book appointments via private messages on Instagram, raising suspicions about the legitimacy of its operations.
This scandal is likely to deal a serious blow to Wu’s brand and career, especially given the strict legal regulations and social taboos surrounding drug use in Taiwan. Many netizens and former followers expressed shock, especially those who believed Wu’s claims of professionalism in the medical beauty industry.
The case is still ongoing and authorities have pledged to follow all leads to dismantle any potential drug supply network linked to the incident.
