SM Entertainment has confirmed that Taeil will be leaving NCT after news of his sexual offences allegations surfaced
Taeil leaves NCT and its subgroups. SM Entertainment has confirmed that the idol will be leaving the group after Taeil was implicated in serious sexual crime allegations.
Taeil Officially Exits NCT After Sex Crime Allegations
On August 28, SM Entertainment released a statement confirming Taeil’s departure from NCT. According to the agency, they are evaluating the details of the charges and it has been decided that Taeil will no longer be able to continue with the group’s activities.
“We recently learned that Taeil has been charged in a criminal case involving a sexual offense,” the statement read. “As we were evaluating the facts surrounding the matter, we recognized the seriousness of the situation and determined that Taeil can no longer continue her activities with the team (NCT). After discussing with Taeil, we have decided to leave the group.”
The statement also confirmed that Taeil is currently cooperating with the police.
“Taeil is currently cooperating fully with the police investigation.. We will provide further statements as the investigation progresses,” it read. “We deeply apologize for the concern and distress this has caused our artist.”
Taeil: The Fourth NCT Member To Leave The Group
Moon Taeil debuted as a member of rotational unit NCT U in April 2016. He later became a member of NCT 127 in July 2016. He is the fourth member of NCT to officially leave the group after Lucas, Shotaro, and Sungchan. Lucas left the group in 2023 to pursue a solo career. Shotaro and Sungchan are currently members of SM Entertainment RIIZE.
At this time, details about the sex crime allegations have not yet been revealed. It is not even clear whether Taeil is actually involved in the case. However, more information is expected to be shared in the coming month. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
