Taeil has withdrawn from NCT, SM Entertainment reported on August 28. The agency said the idol had received a sexual crime complaint, leading him to leave the group and face backlash from the K-pop community.

After the news, Internet users expressed their condolences to Instagram user @agnes_121430, who has been considered a victim of the idol for six years.
The user accused Taeil of criminal acts, such as sexual abuse, hacking her phone to delete evidence, blackmail, and sending death threats. Many netizens expressed their words of comfort to the victim, while also directing their anger towards Taeil.

The situation also saw NCT members unfollow Taeil on their personal Instagram accounts, accompanied by dozens of fans who immediately condemned the idol with words and gestures.
However, another controversial issue coincided with the Taeil case.
On social media platform X (Twitter), users began speculating whether Taeil was involved in the ongoing “Nth Room” case that has become national news in South Korea.
“Nth Room” is the infamous term for an illegal chat room, where certain individuals gather to share highly exploitative and explicit content involving women or underage girls. Chat rooms are also known to involve violence, abuse, blackmail and many other heinous acts.
On the other hand, some netizens have mentioned a rumor that Taeil’s case may have been just the beginning and that over 200 idols may be involved in the illegal “Nth Room”. However, some disagree with the spread of these speculations.

Honest question, how do you know about him in the nth rooms because I have not seen any official documents. Those chats are a VERY scary place and it is dangerous to accuse someone of being part of them. Even if they are scum of the earth, pointing fingers at unfounded rumors is wrong and that is all I have seen.

In other news, KBS shared that the Bangpae Police Station confirmed that Taeil was arrested for “unspecified sexual offenses” in June and has been under investigation since. Authorities also confirmed that the victim is an adult female.
