Amid Taeil’s criminal charges and removal from NCT, netizens found an account claiming to be the idol’s victim. The internet user’s claims and sentiments regarding Taeil went viral, sparking sympathy and outcry on social media.
On August 28, SM Entertainment released an official statement detailing Taeil’s departure from NCT. According to the agency, Taeil was sued for a criminal case related to a sex crime. After an in-depth discussion with Taeil, his activities with NCT were ultimately terminated.

SM Entertainment also shared that Taeil is fully cooperating with the police investigation. The agency added that more details regarding the ongoing case will be released. Finally, the company apologized for the distressing news.
Following the news, Korean news outlets initially reported that Taeil’s case was related to a same-sex sexual offense against a minor. The reports caught the attention of the Bangbae Police Station. The district, which is currently handling the case, denied the claims.
“The investigation is not connected to an investigation into same-sex sexual offences against minors..” Bangbae Police Station Youth and Women’s Division Director Lee In Chun also said: “I am home from work at the moment. Tomorrow (August 29) I will review the facts uploaded to the server..”
While the criminal investigation was being conducted, another story was spreading on the Internet. On August 29, Instagram user @agnes_121430 went viral on social media because of her posts about Taeil.
According to X (Twitter) online, the user accused Taeil of sexual assault, blackmail, threatening to kill her hospitalized mother, hacking, and installing a secret camera on her phone for six years. Netizens expressed their condolences to the victim.
Through Instagram posts and OP comments on both NCT and Taeil’s official accounts, he assured the following: “You stole all my phones? Finally? You’ve been hacking for over 6 years and now you’re fine? I don’t know why everyone betrayed me.”
