Her divorce had just been confirmed.
On October 5, 2024 (KST), Korean news confirmed this T-NOW‘S Jiyeon and baseball star Hwang Jae Gyun they asked for a divorce. The official update came after the couple sidestepped and/or denied divorce speculation for months.
Then, a few days after the news broke, Jiyeon was spotted in Macao at a fanmeeting held to celebrate the 15th anniversary of T-ARA’s debut. The event marked the idol’s first public appearance since announcing her divorce, so when she became emotional and burst into tears at the end of the event, she made headlines for her emotional response.

But Jiyeon’s fans feel reassured by her latest update on Instagram.
In a post of gratitude for the fanmeeting and 15 years together, Jiyeon shared photos of herself smiling and appearing unaffected by the buzz surrounding her high-profile divorce.
As Jiyeon commented via her divorce lawyer, it seems like the idol is really trying hard to “brings better news” for his fans.
Hi, I’m Jiyeon. First of all, I want to express my apologies for giving you such unfortunate news. Hwang Jae Gyun and I have mutually agreed to undergo mediation proceedings for our divorce. This isn’t the only change Jiyeon’s Instagram has seen as of late. She recently made a clean sweep and removed traces of her now ex-husband from her social media platforms, following his declaration of divorce.
