If convicted, Johnny Somali could spend more than 10 years behind bars.
Somali’s controversial presence in the streaming world began in 2023, when he caused chaos in Japan and Israel while broadcasting live on the Kick platform. His behavior has drawn criticism from many, including popular YouTuber PewDiePie.
PewDiePie accused the Somali of damaging Japan’s reputation, even calling him a “terrorist.”
In September 2024, the Somali arrived in South Korea, where he continued his destructive behavior. His most outrageous act was kissing the Statue of Peace, a monument dedicated to the victims of sexual slavery. This caused outrage in South Korea. There was an incident where a Somali was beaten by locals.
Now, the Somali cannot leave South Korea as his actions have attracted the attention of South Korean police. He is accused of assault and drug use and is banned from leaving the country while he is under investigation.
If convicted, the Somali could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to $72,500.
