NetflixAfter taking the world by storm in 2021, Squid game returned for a second run on December 26, 2024.
Since the success of the first season was so overwhelming, there were concerns about whether the second season could live up to it. Squid game 2 has already faced numerous controversies before its release, mostly related to its cast members. Fans were shocked after discovering that the show featured an actor who was convicted of a sex crime, while he was an ex TOP BIGBANG‘s appearance also triggered a strong negative reaction.
Even after the show’s release, it faced criticism regarding its characters and plot. Many fans say they found the show boring.
Despite these obstacles, Squid game 2 achieved a rare feat, the first of its kind Netflix. Just one day after its release (in US time), the show ranked first in all 93 countries where Netflix is available.
Korean netizens reacted positively to the news, although some admitted that they personally found it lacking compared to the first season.
