He was sentenced to prison for child prostitution.
Netflix‘S Quid game 2 sparked some controversy with its cast.
On November 1, the show released a new teaser for its upcoming season, revealing some old and new characters. Last season’s winner, Gi Hun (played by Lee Jung Jae), he is seen trying to lead the rest of the participants through chaotic and deadly games, but some of them rebel against him.
Some of the new faces spotted in the trailer include SUPERIOR, Jo Yuri, Lim Si Wanand veteran actor Young Chang Song. Song’s appearance, however, sparked some controversy regarding his past conviction for sex crimes.
In September 2000, Song was convicted of child prostitution. He was reported to have paid $150 to have two sexual encounters in a car with a 16-year-old girl. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 10 months’ suspended prison sentence, as well as two years’ probation.
The actor served just a month in prison before being placed on probation. After his release, he moved to Canada with his family under the guise of “studying English”. His acting career continued in Canada, where he appeared in some musicals.
Song’s reputation remains tainted by being the first person in the Korean entertainment industry to be convicted of child prostitution. It was banned from major broadcast channels such as KBS, MBCAND EBS. But after his return to Korea, Song appeared in numerous K-Dramas and films in supporting roles, becoming a familiar face among avid viewers.
