Soo-hyun clarifies false claims about college education

Recently, before the release of the film “A Normal Family,” Soo-hyun (better known by her stage name Claudia Kim) met with reporters at a bar in Seoul’s Sogyeok-dong.

“A Normal Family” is a suspense film that depicts the breakup of a couple, whose lives fall apart after seeing CCTV footage of their children’s crime scene. The film is based on Herman Koch’s novel “The Dinner Party”. Soo-hyun plays Ji-soo, who is married to Jae-wan, a character played by Seol Kyung-gu, after the latter’s first wife dies.

An online encyclopedia had claimed that Soo-hyun, during a three-year hiatus since 2013, struggled to find her path as an actress before deciding to return to acting while working at the Swiss headquarters of an NGO. However, Soo-hyun clarified, “There are many inaccuracies. I don’t know where these stories come from. He further explained, “There is an NGO called Compassion. I participated in performances such as singing and dancing, thinking of them as a way to give something back. Many actors took part, including Yoo Ji-tae. But I didn’t work there.” He also said he never intended to stop acting.

Reports that Soo-hyun dropped out of the master’s program in Film Arts at Sejong University are also incorrect. He stated, “I never went to graduate school. I don’t even know where Sejong University is. I didn’t have time to go to graduate school. I was busy modeling at the time. I completed my degree while taking online classes due to filming a drama.

“A Normal Family” will be released on October 16th.
