Five years after capturing hearts in Love Alarm, South Korean stars Song Kang and Kim So Hyun will reunite in the upcoming romantic drama White Scandal, a project that is already generating considerable interest among K-drama fans.
The new series follows Ji Eun Seol, played by Kim So Hyun, a former child actress whose once-promising career falls apart after she takes responsibility for her older brother’s mistake. Losing everything overnight, Eun Seol refuses to give up on her artistic dreams and quietly retreats behind the scenes, working as a talent manager while carrying the weight of her past.
Fate intervenes when she meets again with Dan Yi Hyuk, played by Song Kang, the man who was once at the center of the scandal that changed her life. Dan Yi Hyuk is a top Halyu star and the illegitimate son of a powerful conglomerate family, embroiled in a fierce inheritance battle. In an effort to fulfill his late mother’s dying wish and distance himself from the ruthless corporate power struggle, Yi Hyuk proposes a contractual relationship with Eun Seol. What begins as a calculated agreement gradually blurs the lines between performance and reality, as authentic emotions emerge and long-buried secrets begin to unravel.
More than a conventional romantic drama, White Scandal promises a multi-layered narrative about recovering the truth, restoring honor, and rediscovering one’s identity in the midst of deception and ambition. The series is adapted from a popular original work and is expected to deliver a tightly written and emotionally resonant script from writer Kim Ga Eun, known for Call It Love.
Directing the project is Kim Cheol Kyu, who previously won acclaim for Mother and Flower of Evil, raising expectations for a visually refined and emotionally intense production.
The drama is currently in the casting stage and filming is expected to begin in the second half of the year, after Song Kang completes his filming schedule for the upcoming Four Hands project.
Fans are already eagerly awaiting the new on-screen chemistry between the two stars, hoping that their long-awaited reunion can recreate – and perhaps surpass – the magic that first made them a beloved couple.
