On September 12, the “Channel 15ya” YouTube channel published a video entitled “The No.1 Must-Watch Movie this year”, with director Park Chan Wook together with Lee Byung Hun, Son Ye Jin, Lee Sung Min, Park Hee and Yeom Hye Ran, who star in the film. No other choice.
During the conversation, the cast discussed working with Park Chan Wook, known for its meticulous direction. Lee Byung Hun admitted, “It gives such difficult instructions – five or you are simultaneously – that when you are in front of the camera, you feel overwhelmed.” Son Ye Jin also recalled that he had fought with detailed notes on the intonation and delivery. Despite the challenges, he praised Lee Byung Hun, saying, “Looking at him has made me understand that he is truly one of the best actors in the world. His expressions have given the whole tone of our film.”
His son Ye Jin reflected on receiving the screenplay for the film as a return project after the wedding and childbirth. At the time, he admitted that he was hesitant, but the encouragement of the actress Lee Min Jung and the awareness that Lee Byung Hun was attached to the project convinced her to assume the role even if it was smaller than it expected. Park Chan Wook added that she saw the script several times to ensure that the role of Son Ye Jin was significant, saying, “I didn’t want his friends to ask why he had chosen to do it.”
The discussion also touched the first careers of the actors and the theatrical background, with Lee Byung Hun who recalled how his first attempts to act during his Open Kbs auditions were welcomed with laughter because of his rigid delivery.
As a question about the trip, his son Ye Jin contrasted his love for the holidays with the reality of motherhood, saying, “I have always loved to travel and after having finished a project, I would always make a trip. But after having children, it is now much more difficult.”
