In a statement shared with news agency Newsen, SM Entertainment said that the company first became aware of Taeil’s sex crime scandal in mid-August, which led to the decision to remove him from NCT.
Both the company and Taeil first learned of the indictment in mid-August. Taeil was interviewed by police on August 28.

The claims come after it was reported that Taeil had been arrested for sex crimes in June 2024. Netizens reacted to the news with shock, as the idol continued to promote even after committing the crime.
