SM Entertainment has announced legal action against harmful posts targeting Girls’ Generation member and soloist Taeyeon.

On Dec. 2, the agency uploaded an ad in Korean, addressing the legal plans it is currently crafting to protect the “Letter to Myself” singer from comments containing defamation, insults and sexual harassment.

The company also listed several online platforms and communities, which were monitored for harmful content and comments aimed at the singer. SM then shared that the suspects had been identified during the investigation and that at least two perpetrators had been charged.

“We would like to inform everyone about the ongoing process in our legal plans on malicious posts targeting our artist Taeyeon, who has received defamatory comments, insults and sexual harassment.”

“Based on the evidence we have gathered, we have filed and will continue to file complaints with law enforcement.”

SM Entertainment has also taken some measures for accused minors and adults. Minors are required to write handwritten apologies under parental supervision. Meanwhile, adult suspects are required to pay a fine.

SM further added, “We will continue to monitor online communities, SNSs and portals containing malicious comments, unfounded rumors and personal attacks on Taeyeon. Our legal response will be implemented without any leniency and we will do so to protect our artists.”
