SHINee Taemin shares an untold anecdote with the late Jonghyun who saved him from bullies: ‘He walked barefoot’

SHINee Taemin recalled one of the untold stories he had with the late Jonghyun, specifically recounting the latter’s memorable “sacrifice” just to protect him from delinquents.

On November 13, the K-pop icon took time to communicate with Shawols and Taemates (Taemin’s fandom) through a live broadcast and talked about various topics.

There, Taemin took a trip down memory lane, recalling the unforgettable incident he shared with their angel, Jonghyun.

Notably, the “Move” singer went back to the time when SHINee members were still trainees. He and Jonghyun were walking home after getting Bungeo-ppang (fish-shaped bread) when they ran into thugs.

As a kid, Taemin admitted to being terrified. However, he looked at his hyung (older brother) who remained impassive and calm.

Taemin said he only brought his iPod but also money, so the bullies immediately asked him to give it to them when Jonghyun interrupted him and bravely said:

“Take my Nike Forces (instead). Don’t mess with my (younger) brother’s stuff.”

Taemin vividly remembered Jonghyun having to walk home barefoot in the middle of a wet street after sacrificing his shoes just to protect his belongings, so he started talking politely to him.

But without a hint of irritation, the late idol simply laughed at the situation, cared for him and consoled him by saying.

“It’s okay, we’re already close to home. We’ll talk about it later.”

Taemin added:

“(Jonghyun) said, ‘One day, we will definitely share this story. We have a story between the two of us now.'”

After about two decades, this untold story was finally revealed to the public, making the former idol’s wishful thinking come true.
