SEVENTEEN‘S Mingyu uploaded a video via the group’s official TikTok account and his personal Instagram account, joining a popular TikTok trend.
According to Know Your Meme, “a user shows photos of two celebrities they resemble and labels them as parents in audio created by TikTik user @steeerling in July 2019 in which he says: ‘It all started when my mother met my father and they fell in love and they had me. Hi, my name is Ryan and my life is a little crazy.’ The audio, meant to mock a clichéd movie intro, has since been used to compare the TikTok user’s appearance to that of celebrity ‘parents.’
Mingyu shared an honest version, revealing old photos of his mother and father, followed by photos of himself over the years. The video has gone viral with 5.8 million and 30.4 million views on TikTok and Instagram respectively as of this writing.
Netizens confessed that they initially thought a fan account had shared the edit and were shocked to see that it came from the official accounts.
Others couldn’t get over Mingyu’s father’s resemblance not to himself but to another SEVENTEEN member: I don’t know! CARAT wondered if Mingyu and DK could actually be related.
However, many CARATs agree that there is no denying that Mingyu is his parents’ son, as he resembles both his mother and father.
